As a parent of two children with ADHD Michelle understands that times can be difficult…

How could there be something wrong with my child???

What if people find out???

Is that the school calling me again???

I don’t want my child to be defined by a label!!

Why is it always my child’s fault???

Why can’t they just be good???

As a teacher of 30 years, Michelle knows how important it is to seek a diagnosis if there are any signs pointing to a possibility of a student having ADHD. So often parents choose not to follow up concerns presented by teachers, forgetting that teachers experience their children in completely different  ways than they would  at home.

A diagnosis often EMPOWERS students to be who they are meant to be and allow their educators to understand how they can ELEVATE a neurodiverse student. As someone with ADHD, Michelle can affirm that the only people who don’t appreciate an ADHD diagnosis are people who don’t have ADHD. For those with ADHD, it is liberating... a feeling of finally being understood.
